This portion of the Butte County Health Care Education Coalition provides resources for teachers, elementary school through college. The materials here do not advocate political positions on health care issues; rather, they engage students in exploring and researching problems in keeping with our belief that "Information Leads to Positive Change."
National Public Broadcasting has some excellent teaching resource units with links to NPR broadcasts. The materials emphasize "hands on" or discovery learning, including:
1. What's Your Town's Prognosis?
2. The Impact of Rising Health Care Costs
3. Taking Action
4. The Media and Your Health
42Explore offers hands-on learning for elementary school learners, including:
- dental care
- tobacco and smoking
- vitamins and minerals
- body systems (brain, skeleton, digestion) and how they work
